ABOUT PILATES

Pilates works the whole body through a range of mat based exercises, both standing and lying down. Pilates exercises can be performed at different levels and we will help you to exercise at the level appropriate for you.
Pilates works to rebalance the body: strengthening the weak muscles and relaxing and lengthening the tight muscles, whilst teaching an awareness of alignment and posture.
Pilates involves relaxation, concentration and breathing control as you use flowing movements to exercise the body with an awareness of your alignment, helping to restore balance. Initially you work to carefully isolate the postural muscles with gentle controlled movements, to help improve core and postural awareness. As you progress you add in other muscle groups to challenge your control and build up your strength and stamina.
