This is a day for all women to celebrate everything that we are.
Being a physiotherapist and Pilates instructor my focus this week has been teaching a Pilates class focusing on the pelvic floor, thinking about strengthening but also relaxing as you exercise. Those of you who come to my classes have access to the class in the library of the class recordings.
This week has got me thinking about the resources that I am often recommending to patients. Two apps that I often recommend are Squeezy app and balance app. Squeezy is an app designed to help you improve your pelvic floor health. Balance app is for knowledge and guidance of whats right for your body during perimenopause and menopause.
A website I am often recommending for evidence based information regarding all things to do with the menopause is https://www.balance-menopause.com/
Here you will find a wealth of information and resources regarding menopause. There is a library of resources including a menopause symptom checker and an article on how to talk to your GP regarding HRT.
Did you know there are also specialist pelvic health physiotherapists who treat bladder and bowel dysfunction, prolapse of pelvic organs, sexual dysfunction, pregnancy related issues and menopause related issues. You can ask your GP to refer you to a pelvic health physiotherapist. Please do not put things off due to feeling uncomfortable, these specialist physiotherapists are amazing people, skilled at listening and helping, and they have certainly seen it all before.
Not to forget men, you of course have a pelvic floor too and these apps and websites have lot's of useful information on for men too.
